Ja-Young in San Diego, September 1st, 2000

A collection of photos of San Diego
Jaja arrived on the 31st from South Korea. She was to be in town for one day before heading out to New York. It was a beautiful day for a whirlwind tour of San Diego.
We met up with Nik at Top of the Hyatt, downtown. I look like shit.
She stayed at Hyatt Aventine that night.
I picked her up the next morning and we headed to downtown La Jolla. The seals were on vacation.
La Jolla Shores. The pretty part, "south" of the Children's Pool.
Ditto.
Ditto ditto.
I have not seen the water this clear in La Jolla since that day.
We scooted over to Karl Strauss Brewery Gardens on Sorrento Mesa to meet my co-workers for lunch. Bruce is the silly one, Ken is the one looking for another Stout.
It was a Japanese restaurant initially. Couldn't tell, could ya?
The rest of the day was spent in Balboa Park. The organ pavilion was deserted that Friday.
From the pavilion, you can see the Museum of Art.
We stopped off at the Japanese Friendship Garden. Not much of a photo I guess.
They have Bromeliads in the Botanical Building.
Another Bromeliad.
Here there be Orchids.
Lots of 'em.
The rose garden is at the other end of the park.
Canon's S100 was capable of taking pretty nice pictures with enough light.
The center of the rose garden. The "Inez Grant Parker Memorial Rose Garden", to be precise.
Tired yet? No? Good.
Horton Plaza before dinner with Nik.
Trattoria La Strada. One of the first of many Italian restaurants on Fourth and Fifth street that sprang up as the Gaslamp District grew in popularity.
Now there's just too many overpriced Italian restaurants downtown. Other ethnicities have moved in to break up the monotony thankfully. Head to Villa Capri off Carmel Valley Road if you want some of the best Italian cuisine in San Diego. Say hi to Antonio for me.
At the airport before dawn the next day. Not a lot of Eclipses in South Korea. I saw two.
I was tired. Gimme a break.
